Trip to Waterstone’s

Four Year 8 pupils went to Waterstone’s at Morpeth to select some books for Ponteland Public Library.  They had £250 to spend, and were asked to choose books published in 2013 which were either general fiction, horror, fantasy, romance or graphic novels.

It was a great opportunity to let people know what they want and make sure the public library has books which are really aimed at teenagers.   After their trip they wrote about the books they chose and why they chose them.

They had a good time looking at all the new books, and choosing ones they would like to read themselves as well as what would appeal to others, but it was harder than they imagined to choose only recently published books and to way up the benefits and costs of buying books on offer, hardbacks rather than paperbacks, and so on.  However, they did an excellent job, and this is the list of books they chose:

The Enemy

Jimmy Coates

Red Rock

Icons

BZRK

Tom Gates is Absolutely Fantastic

Throne of Glass

The Spinderlers

House of Hades

Moon Bear
Angel Fever

Nerds Attack

Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher

Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider

The Last Wild by Piers Torday

Light by Michael Grand

My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece by Annabel Pitcher

Let it Snow

Geed Girl Model Misfit

Coco Caramel

The Pot Secret Diary of a Pig

School for Stars

Why not have a look at them and see if you would like to read one of these yourself, or get yourself down to the library at Ponteland and borrow them?  We will also be getting some of these in the school library, so look out for them coming soon.

I think I could’ve greatly improved this list of new books by adding approximately 1079% more Terry Pratchett books!
