On Friday we spent the afternoon at Chantry Middle answering 50 questions about children’s books. We took three teams from Year 7 and 8 to challenge the best readers from our region. They did excellently well, and we had a fabulous time talking about and thinking about books. It was a good practice for the Kids Lit Quiz in November!

We had a lit quiz for year 7 on Wednesday last week, and today we held the finals for the best teams. We had a fun lesson in the library, and we gave prizes to the top three teams (with sweets for everyone!). Well done to everyone who took part, but especially to Team Simpletons, Smarties, and Dangerous Dogs who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
A good warm up for the Kids Lit Quiz in November!
Richard Coates School took two teams of four children from Year 7 and 8, and two fantastic subs, to the North East heat of the Kids Lit Quiz. We had a wonderful afternoon answering more than a hundred questions on children’s books. The teams did really well, winning spot prizes and round prizes. Our Year 8 team came fourth out of more than thirty schools! Well done to everyone!
Last Friday two teams of children from Coates went to Newminster Middle in Morpeth for a Mini Lit Quiz. There were around 30 teams competing from all over the North East. We had a fantastic time and I’m very pleased to say that Coates did well. Our Year 8 team came second place, and one of our Year 7 children won a spot prize. Well done to everyone who took part!
Two teams from Richard Coates went to the North East heat of the Kids Lit Quiz this year. They had a great afternoon and enjoyed thinking and talking about children’s books. It was a tough competition with 100 questions, all of which are really difficult, but they did a great job. Well done to everyone who went.
